What Is an Optician?
An optician is a medical professional who examines patients’ eyes and frames lenses for prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses. The National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) defines an optician as a person with the ability to measure, fit, prescribe, sell, adjust, repair, and clean eyeglasses, contacts, and other optical devices for the purpose of correcting vision.
