Are you curious about a career as a Barber, Hairstylist, or Cosmetologist in the United States of America? Now you can learn what Barbers, Hairstylists, and Cosmetologists do, the work environment, how to become one, salary, and job outlook.

Barbers, Hairstylists, and Cosmetologists cut hair, style hair, and apply cosmetics to the human head.

A barber or hairdresser is someone who cuts hair. A cosmetologist is someone who applies cosmetics to hair or scalp, such as shampooing and styling, and a hairdresser is someone who cuts hair.

A barber usually has a barber’s shop where he or she can be employed full-time, part-time, or on a freelance basis. The barber works with clients at a salon or at their home. They may charge for services, or they may accept payment in kind.

A barber can also work at an airport or a hotel and provide services to the guests of that establishment. The American Society of Barber and Cosmetology (ASBC) has more information about barbers and hairdressers. In the United States, hairdressers can receive additional education and training to qualify for employment as cosmetologists. For example, many hairdressers attend beauty schools to learn the science of cosmetics.

A cosmetologist usually works at a salon or beauty salon. They use the same tools as barbers, and they provide the same services. However, they must be certified by a cosmetology school before they can legally work in this capacity. A cosmetologist may also work for salons on a freelance basis.

Barbers and cosmetologists work in salons, beauty shops, and other businesses where the services are provided. The clientele of these places include people who want to get their hair or nails done. They may be people who are going to a party, or they may be a family looking for a place to do hair or a beauty salon for their children.

If you want to become a hairdresser, you can start your own business or work for someone else. If you want to become a barber, you can do that too. You might need to attend school to study cosmetology. Some barbers work at an airport, but that’s not a requirement. A barber must be trained to cut hair, style hair, and apply cosmetics. Some barbers have additional responsibilities, such as doing manicures and pedicures. This is not always the case, however. You should learn about the requirements and duties of the profession before you consider becoming one.

As a barber, hairdresser, or cosmetologist, you will work in a variety of settings. You may work at a barber shop in a busy city, a salon in a quiet suburb, or a beauty shop at an airport. The work environment is very different at each setting. For example, at a barber shop you may work in an atmosphere that is lively, with a lot of activity and people coming in and out of the store. At a salon, you may be working alone. At a beauty shop at an airport, you may be working with other employees, while the clientele is mostly travelers.
